I have never really understood this. I know it helps extend the season, but (and this isn't just a PWH thing) I can't help but thinking if the weather is poor then that's a great deal of time, money and effort for nothing. Some summer events, including late evening opening would be ahead of too much Halloween stuff for my money.

Its huge and after christmas and easter its the thrid biggest event for retailers and now attractions.
Christmas at PWH - it never took of way back when they did do it so I see no point. - Fritton Lake found out two seasons ago it cost a bomb and was a bit of a flop so they stopped it
I'm not knocking it as such, I just think having been there for previous Halloween events and seeing weak attendances its a lot for one week - a small percentage of the yearly footfall. I know they have to put something on, and fair play this years plans are exciting, but I think if they made similar efforts for the main season (Summer Hols) the rewards would be greater.
I'd love to see it really take off and hope they get 3 thousand plus through the gates on the last day, but it so weather dependent. Look at last years Oct half term, the week was a wash out, esp. the last day.
OR. fill the gap in the market and have an all round 'dark' park all year round. Halloween is for life not just for October. Better than the 'pirate' theme they're going in.. pfft. :P
Anyway, we haven't even started the season and we're all looking forward to the end...lol that image is brilliant. I give it a personal thumbs up!

In regards to what andyb was saying... The reason Halloween events are becoming so popular is because Halloween is a much bigger thing in the UK now... Plus it gives theme parks a chance to make their attractions scarier and thus entice people in for some indoor frights alongside outside rides. If enough of a scare line-up is promote then it won't matter that the weather may be poor as people will be happy enough indoors all day! It is certainly something that brings people in at the quiet season end and encourages one-time visitors to come again when they may have waited until next year. Equally, if Pleasurewood wants to compete with its rivals, it needs to be taken seriously at Halloween.

would you consider a creppy music soundtrack for the Jolly Rodger ride - like what Martyn said before where it plays creepy music all the way to the top, then does a creepy ticking noise maybe until it drops

You say that Andy but firework night 2011 was probably their busiest day of the season - it was utterly rammed - was a great atmosphere and a real flashback to the late 80s/early 90s

have noticed that the chills week is being advertised only for a few days - the last few days of the season are not shown as days for pleasurewood chills.....
^ Unlikely considering there will probably only be a day or two in between the change over. Does it really matter though? It's still the halloween season...
that could be a big shame as if firework night turns out to be a very busy day......... that firework day and rides into the dark could be one of the busiest days of the year
Thats good to hear but I was just making my point that often firework night can be the best day of a season for any park.... Be good to see the rides at dusk again this year and lets pray they will be open until around 5.45pm like 2012..........
If I'm honest coolskin, I dont understand what it is that you're getting at?
"that could be a big shame as if firework night turns out to be a very busy day" - what's a shame? That there will be halloween theming up on a busy day?
