That makes sense - I would hope however that firearms are strictly prohibited from the park and not just Hobs Pit... ;)

Just looking back through this thread and noticed this post from Ben. What was this, did you go for it in the end?

I think it is a improvement to the track to make it into a roller coaster or it could be something to do with actors.

So with Hobs Pit getting some investment this winter can we expect it to be marketed as scarier for 2014 or likewise?

Absolutely, the good news is the park knows what needs doing and it's great that they are investing again this year. Ben are we going to see HD projectors installed for the video effects?

Hobs Pit: Your ideas for new scares

Pleasurewood Hills are planning to invest money into Hobs Pit this season. If you were in charge of the money, what changes or additions would you make? How would you make the whole experience more scary?

I would include a lot more jumpy actors, make all effects work properly all the time

Firstly while there's some lovely rock effects but there's also some areas of blank canvas. There's also a few points of hiatus where nothing really happens so so jumpy bits would be nice. But the main area is the unfinished bit at the end, the long straight with one actor and a lot of blank needs to be sorted. I'd love for some sections to feel more chlostrophobic maybe bring the walls and ceiling in closer before unleashing a fantastic scare. Maybe more smells.

[SPOILER ALERT]

Is love to feel a spay of water on my face when the miner gets cut up by the fan

Funny you should mention water Josh... My first thought was to add a "blood spray" of water but I didnt think of the same bit as you. I thought it could work well when the miner gets hit in the video at the start.

Haha yeah that'd be good too. One thing about that bit at the beginning is some people don't come all the way round to see the screen or the key.

I also think new merchandise is in order and also please PWH don't have them so expensive. I think the Hobs Pit mug was something ridiculous like 8 or 9 quid. For a 3D embossed giant mug, yes, for a printed mug, fiver maximum. And have the right ride logo on.

Good point about getting people in the right position Josh... First time I went on Hobs Pit, another bit further into the ride (the rats tails) missed me completely. When on the train things can be controlled more easily.

I'm not sure about being squirted with water.

It would be just a small splattering for effect, not a soaking by any means.

In other similar attractions, the effect works really well. Very often the lights go out at the same time. Works well.

Always water... The low light level is enough to give the sensation of it being blood.

They done really well in certain areas with Hobs Pit, buy IMO they've let themselves down on basic stuff. I like this thread. I'll post properly later.

What about a mine collapse sequence with very loud sound effects and jets of smoke!

or a fake stop - where by the train comes to a stop and all the lights go out. I reckon people would **** bricks. totally pitch black - just sound.

They have something a bit like that on the Over the Hill ride at Adventure Island.

Sounds good, as long as people don't decide to get out of the car.

Yes - getting out of the car isnt good!

They have a fake station at Over The Hill. An Identical station that the train stops and then things jump out .

I think the key is not to neccesarily scare but set up scares - its the building of anticipation that is always scarier! imho
