Fun fact, did you know that the construction of Pleasure Island was started in the late 1980's by the company that owned PWH! But they soon went bankrupf and Flamingoland PLC finished off the job!
Anyway, it's a quirky little park, and pretty similar to PWH, with a Boomerang, Sea Lion & Parrot Show, as well as two dark rides. The only big difference is that Pleasure Island has 7 proper thrill rides and it lacks a Log Flume/devent water style ride.
Anyway, this year they're adding a new dimension to their park, a farm area and petting zoo!
Furry Friends Farm incorporates a superb tractor ride and themed paddocks housing everyone’s favourite farm animals such as pigs, sheep, cows and pygmy goats. An impressive indoor area provides a home for some of the smaller farmyard friends including rabbits, guinea pigs and newly hatched chicks. Throughout the course of the day there will be the opportunity to pet and feed the animals under the supervision of our farm manager.
Covering an area of approximately 5 acres the tractor ride takes its passengers on a journey around the various paddocks, at times offering an aerial view of our furry friends below. A great new attraction for the younger children in particular!
For schools looking to combine a lot of fun with education our animal talks will provide just that. Suitable for key stages one and two the children will be able to handle and feed some of the smaller animals whilst learning about them at the same time. Top this off with some free time on the rides, what better school trip can there be?
I went to Pleasure Island the other day. It is a neat little park, in a weird way. On paper, it has a really good ride selection, with 7 proper thrill rides, 2 dark rides, animal shows, petting zoo, and 3 coasters. But IMO, the actual thrill rides are so nauseating, you end up feeling like crap come dinner time.
However, Hydro Max is possible my favourite thrill ride in the UK. I've been on a few Boosters now, but none of them are anywhere near as fast as Hydro Max. It can leave you feeling a little worse for wear, but IMO it's worth it for just how thrilling it is!
Also, the park is home to Shrieksville, an inhouse ghost train that opened in 2009. Considering that Pleasure Island is probably the smallest park in the UK, with the smallest budget, they done a grand job with this, and I was very impressed. Plenty of animatronics that jump out at you etc, lots of creepy music and somr half decent theming.
(cant atually find an on-rideo video)
If Hobs Pit turns out anything like Shrieksville, I'll be happy!
