Went to PWH today, and have been every 2-3 years or so pretty much since about 1985. Now, we all went on the mintaure railway, round the park, through the tunnels and then I had a look on the 'net and saw the 1983 railway guide:
and noticed that the lower loop seems to have been rerouted? When was this done and how much of the track was moved? I also noticed that at the stop, the turntable had gone along with quite a few sidings and additional locos. It's almost following BR of the '60s !!
Additionally, the 2012 guide doesn't seem to show the minature railway on it at all, just the larger one with the numerous stops.

The railway was re-routed in recent seasons due to complaints from local residents - there was also going to be an additonal station in use close to the lake , you can see it on the way through. This has never seen the light of day either. The turntable - again along with many of the old signs etc that use to be around the station was also removed a while ago now. Shame and was always true vintage PWH to a lot of us

I wonder why this seems to be running with reduced investment. It doesn't appear on the visitor's guide map but then it's quite rubbish and contains very little detail about anything.
This always seemed a very popular attraction at the park and sometging for all ages. It'd be a great loss if it were to go.

Bloody complaining residents. The track was there before the houses and the park closes at 6pm.
That has to be a record for the longest time someone has left it before responding to an answer, almost 4 years! 😂
The miniature railway used to look so awesome with the replica Amtrak shells but now it just looks old. Shame really.
Actually, I was there just the other day again and the miniature railway was still just 1 train and 3 carriages, carrying a max of 14 people.
The train struggled on section at the far end of the loop.
It's hard to see where the track has been trncated and it seems as though ithad already changed once as the initial track crosses over itself, forming a figure of 8 but even maps of the late '80s don't show this.
