Been to Alton Towers and Thorpe Park this year (been many times in last few years) also been to Clacton Pier this year too.
I'm thinking of going to Pleasurewood Hills next year when it opens but is it worth the travel? It takes longer to get to than Thorpe Park from where I am (Essex). If I'm honest I'm not overly crazy on Thorpe Park so I was thinking instead of that, me and my mates might go Pleasurewood Hills. We nearly did 3 years ago but it was closed and haven't bothered since.
It looks good from photos, although maybe a little cheap, no theming just rides randomly placed on areas of the park. Also alot of travelling fair rides and probably the cafes and shops aren't overly exciting, more local zoo style than Merlin park style.
One last question? Something I'll call a ChavCount, how high is it at Pleasurewood Hills?

There may not be that much theming about, but the landscaping is nice, and just in general the park is quite 'pretty'. An American who visited earlier this year had some interesting comments, along the lines of "its like a British Country park", and " you could picture young scallys playing cricket next to the rollercoasters".
Its definitely more of a family park, but next year they are adding the tallest drop tower in the UK, at over 210ft tall. That, plus Wipeout, Fireball, Timber Falls and Wavebreaker would make a fun day out. Also, you cant miss the Sealion Show, its a real gem, and there's going to be a new Magic Show next year too. Its not out and out thrills, but there is a variety of things to do.
Its one of the smallest theme parks in the UK, but it does have this certain 'charm' to it, and the Chavcount is very low up here (they're all at Thorpe Park XD)
A little tip, if you come during the summer season, or a Bank Holiday, you could then nip upto Yarmouth once the park has closed and visit the Pleausure Beach. Its just a fair really, but there is a very old Wooden Coaster which is worth a ride.
I'm not too bothered about thrills, that's why I don't like Thorpe Park that much. A fun day out is pretty much what I'm after.

One small question, I am a smoker (the only one outta my mates) and it normally leaves me alone in Alton Towers due to quite strict rules in the summer (which I play by, most others in their twenties don't!). I wondered what the rules are like there? Anywhere? Smoking areas? not miiiiiles from rides.

you can smoke anywhere around the park , but oviously smoking on the rides is a No No :) also im pretty sure there is a no smoking policy in the theatre ,shops and eating establishments :)

Hmm, Camelot isn't great, but then it has Knightmare, which is well worth a ride. And whilst you're over there, a trip to Blackpool Pleasure Beach is a must.
hmm why wouldnt you want to go to legoland martyn XD lol i wanna go chessington and alton, i wanna go on a lot of rides @ alton now, since last time i went was too small for it all.
parks also worth visiting are drayrton manor, flamingoland,ligh****ervally and as said elsewhere here, blackpool pleasure beach , few years ago i done all the above in a week saved a fortune on entry tickets by using the tesco clubcard points :) i have done legoland in windsor and its overpriced and not much there for teenagers and above but the smaller kids would love it, then again i would like to go to the new florida legoland thats just opened on sat on the former cypress gardens to see what that one is like.
yh, to be honest , legoland isnt worth it, but it does, although i do miss the jungle coaster which was worth it, although they do have an xbox gaming zone i go in while my family watchess the diving show that weve all seen about 100 times, need to get a new one imo
Legoland is a place that has never really attracted me but their new submarine ride does look very good. I'm sure I will visit in the coming years when my daughter is a little bit older.

Me and my mates have decided to go to Pleasurewood Hills in July next year instead of Thorpe Park before Alton Towers (figured it was best to do pleasurewood hills first).
I will be able to go there without seeing it before!
And along the lines of Josh, I have a goddaughter and its great to go on childrens rides and childrens area of the zoo you have always wondered about with a good excuse. (Im sure we all wonder what the kids rides are like but can never go on them)
As much as I keep up to date with Alton Towers I don't really know anything about the swarm? Is it meant to be good? I was VERY disappointed by the new ride this year, that lame excuse for a water ride thing
I remember as a kid that I loved the look of them large rapids slides, so I was chuffed when I hear about Thorpe getting one.... :| So awful, its unreal, the spinning is annoying, no speed, and just pointless. Even if there is no queue, I wont be wasting my time on that again.

Yeah I had never been on one before, was really excited then the ride was just lame.. it didn't do anything, didn't spin, didn't get wet at all (apart from a water pistol at the end which soaked me but was pointless as all it did was annoy me). When I go again I won't bother either, I can't imagine there will be much of a queue anymore
It's a B&M Wingrider. The first in the UK. Basically you sit either side of the track so (TWO PEOPLE)-[track]-(TWO PEOPLE)
The first drop/inversion is the first of its kind anywhere as the ride flips you over as you drop in an arc and come back on yourself (hard to describe but you can see it in the facebook pictures!). It's located behind Stealth on a previously unused island in the lake. The ride will be the only thing on the island and it will all be themed in an 'end of the world' ruined style - with overturned trailers and trucks used for shops and food outlets whilst the station will be a derelict church!
As a bit of extra info, the next big coaster will go on another island next to this one - but that's for the future xD.
