Look familiar? Thank you TowersTimes...

I think so, UKRides also has it down as the same ride.

Troika's are usually known as Tri-Star:

Though searching on google, both ride types come up, so I dont know. But anyway, Pleasurewood used to have a Tri-Star too, but that was called Trioka!lol

From my remeberance this use to sit next to the Chairlift control station. The top of the ride had a white ring with "Turbo star" in red on it yet the maps and park info always did call it Troika i think... then there was the mini version as such that use to live just off main square behind the toilet block.....

^The ride behind main square was an unusual twist ride. I think it was called Calypso. Here is a similar (if not the actual one) at Loudon Castle:

Classic PWH!

^ Never ever saw that, well I cant remember it anyway. I wouldn't be surprised if that was the one from Pleasurewood, as there were a LOT of our rides at Loudoun Castle.

You're right about the location, but I cant remember anything about a sign, I just remember it being white and green, and not looking too tacky for a fairground ride.

Thats it Calypso......  not sure when that went and I think it did live elsewhere for a season or two.....  Got to check photos, it had a white fence around it that was going rotten or it may have even been in the American colours.... I am thinking black cars.....

Could this be because they're going to move it?

for the years i worked at the park in the 80s   the troika always stood where the current sky hooks are as you can see by this picture   http://www.unofficialpleasurewood.co.uk/pleasurewood.jpg

the calypso that stood in main square was red and white and im pretty sure that they had big multicouloured round discs above each car.  the ride that stood next to the drive end of the chairlift was the round up.

Woop woop! Looks like things are getting started with the Tower....!

However, would it not have been better to say something like "Thunderstruck is going to remain closed for the rest of 2011 whilst we prepare for something BIG in 2012"....

*somewhere* I have a photo of it when it was located by the Chairlift station, where the Kite Flyer currently is.

You can see it where the Kite Flyer now is on one of the aerial shots of PWH from 1993 on this very website. Great memories. I MUST dig out all my old pictures, Voyager, Eye in the sky to name but a few

Laurence, I see no reason why you cant answer this ickle question; with the arrival of the Drop tower next to Enigma, is Thuderstruck being removed from the park, or located elsewhere in the park?

Hi there, I'm new! I was at Pleasurewood today and Thunderstruck was looking pretty sorry for itself with the a quarter of the floor in pieces and other bits lieing around. Pretty sure it looked like it was being prepared for removal. It is a travelling version of the ride (like most of the parks rides!) so would only take half a day to pack up and move/remove from park.

Hi there and welcome to the forum...

Yes this ride is expected to be making way for something HUGE next year, check out the other posts or the homepage of this site and it will update you more.

As bad as thunderstruck is it really does need to stay at the park in another location to fill in some of those painful gaps... and it is a ride....

Laurence hope you are telling your boss this !!!

A removal, or relocation would require the same procedure, so we wont know the outcome until next year probably!

Thanks for the update Chris.

I hope it stays - an old ride is better than no ride at all!

^ Why's that?

I'd be SO angry if it does, the drop tower is great an all, but the park still has a major lack of rides and lots of empty spaces! And lets face it, they're hardly likely to get any money for it, are they? Keeping hold of it would be much more beneficial for the park
