trip report sunday 24th april

hi all, went to the park yesterday, started off down at enigma, i mean yay theyve painted the train but what about the rest of it! so headed next up to thunderstruck, last year it was s**t but my god i dont know what theyve done to it but it spun like fudge this year! so thats all good :) headed then onto fireball/wizzy dizzy they still havnt changed the sign lol

i noticed woodies flying school (them naf old planes on the old cine180 site) are still there and were running although not on the map the area there needs some attention as theres no visitors walking through at all

train restaurant looks perminantly shut now, god sell it for scrap and get some money for a new ride!

also does anybody know what the palladium is? its next to the toilets opposite wizzy dizzy

next we went on the small train :) im 23 but its always a ledgend of a ride :) new station seems to have had more wooden piling in to when i went last year so maybe it will get done at some point, quite a bit of litter along te track, again WHAT HAVE THEY BEEN DOING ALL WINTER!

so then we headed to go karts and the token machine was jammng up, theyve had all bloody winter and yet its just as skanky in there as ever!

then we grabbed lunch, now the chicken place has been replaced with a pie shop! yes thats correct, i saw 2 customers all day! so needless to say the chippy was packed out, so we went to the merry mariner, food choice is pap and ive emailed them about this as its pathetc, some little girl asked if the chips on her meal could be swapped for spuds and was told no! thats outrageous, its like "no little girl your not allowed to be healthy!" also in there the main gripe was there was no dam mayo, or brown sauce! how is it hard!

next we grabbed the chair lift down to the bottom, is it just me or are the lines sagging this year? i notice theyve got the tensioning weights propped up at the main end which surely cant help! :S

down the bottom went on rattle snake with its lovely, ahem not, tunnel ;) and then went on the ddgems, i remember last year i used a yellow one that obunced around like its got a stone stuck in the wheel! well guess what, its still the same! and yep still all algie on the roof etc and on the hand of the slide, what does a wipe down take! screw painting the already clean baloon rays, a bowl of soapy water and a cloth for the rest of the park would have been cheaper and more sensible!

so we headed up back into the main park and went on wipeout, stil got the teddies in 16 or the 28 seats! and little beind the fences!

next grabbed the large train just from near the entrance anybody noticed the electric chair that sat in there last year! well its still sat there in the corner, why hasnt it been slung or stored, it really is the slly little thing that let this place down, then went to go on the carosell but it had broken and workmen were quickly removing the horses, so we went on the log flume, still the nicest themed ride there, cant faut it one bit :) and the other half is addicted to the fairytale fantasy ride so went on that :)

then there was time to go back on wizzy, thunderstruck, and get on the parate ship, and pop into the chippy for a burget, well guess what, no salad in my burger, what does mixed salad cost! also no relish/mayo or anything, the staff said they had been asking for it but had got none yet, theyve had all dam winter!

we still had a few mins spare before the parot show so went on veteran cars, the creatures have been taken off them and theyve been painted, yet still the old crazy gold creatures are amongst the grass, HOW NAFF

parot show was cool :)

so yea just the little things that spoil the day really :)

the end :)

ta

Before going on about the little things - 'cos I cba to write a long post - I think the old Palladium is now some sort of Conference Centre or Meeting Centre as it's not housed a show in years.

^ Bang on!

train restaurant looks perminantly shut now, god sell it for scrap and get some money for a new ride!

Err....say WHAT? The train restaurant is one of the quirkiest things about Pleasurewood, and they did good food in there after the revamp. What the hell is going on?!

then we grabbed lunch, now the chicken place has been replaced with a pie shop! yes thats correct, i saw 2 customers all day! so needless to say the chippy was packed out, so we went to the merry mariner, food choice is pap and ive emailed them about this as its pathetc

Do you mean the chicken place in main street, opposite the arcade? And last time I used Merry Mariner, the food was immense, with a wide variety on offer.

Sounds like they're starting to undo all the hard effort that CdA put into the park!

What a shame about all the little things that you noticed. I thought when the new manager came in last year he would have taken a look around the park and just sorted out the easy cleaning jobs. The food situation sounds familiar with small parks always being below par with choice and quality. Food is a big money spinner for parks and if they can't get it right then people will just bring a picnic or pop down tescos.

And the park was dead!! Easter Sunday should be a big day for theme parks. I went to AT in Easter Sunday a couple of years back and it was packed to the rafters! PWH just aren't doing enough to entice new customers in and old ones back!

Maybe the train is only open for Summer Season?

Also, if the Merry Mariner has gone down hill that is very disappointing, I agree. The food has never been of an amazing quality, but they have always recently had a very good selection at not bad prices. Hopefully these are just teething issues. That or the old catering manager is back, as someone once feared a few weeks back...
