2011 Improvements

So we have the nice new original look to the Balloon ride:

But as well as that, the Elephant ride has been repainted too!

Looks much better for it as well:

It did look awful before, so another job well done. They really have done a job a good with their repainting efforts, must have been done professionally!

Before, when I heard of them going around painting everything, I wasn't looking forward to what I was going to see, but so far, things are looking good, really goo. They're not just repainting, they're completely changing the look of the rides!

The fences have also been done around the elephants - same colour as the carousel fence! Good work.

They really are making some great improvements to the park, now if only Reece and Matt would do that trip report! angered.gif

Well spotted Andy. I didn't mind the multi-coloured fence around there as the kids rides are all multi-coloured, so it kinda worked well.

Its just a shame they didn't do anything about that platform underneath the Elephants!

I kinda liked the jaunty angles of the fences... less so the colours, but plain fences can look a bit boring don't you think?

On the Pleasure Wood Hills Youtube Account you can see a clip of Enigma, I think the carts have been repatined and looking more themed?

I watched that earlier... the chimney things on the cars looked shinier...

hobohippie said that the ride had a repaint.

Youtube vid from opening weekend

God SNIG's tunnel is awful, buy my word, Enigma's train (from what we can see) is looking fab, a lot more like the old Cannonball train. The pics that were taken in March must have been an undercoat, as it was black and grey...I think. I look forward to seeing the rest of the train!

They really need to sort SNIG's tunnel out. But a good video.

Yeah great video there, I have to agree with you on the Enigma trains, they are looking great. I wish I could say the same for SITG. It looks pretty awful!!

Whilst the trains look good on Enigma, they dont really go well with the bright red track. It is nice seeing them making little changes like that, though there are surely more important things to do on Engima's list than just repainting the trains.

Very true, maybe they will do some more after Easter.

Latest update on Twitter suggests that they have changed the seating in the Sea Lion Show arena. Which would explain their seating "problem" that they have mentioned on Facebook in response to John and Reece's questions:

They were the old green plastic seats before weren't they?  It looks as though they are now wooden benches.

^ Spot on.

Nothing really wrong with the old green seats. They did look a bit old and I think they were the original seats from when this first opened, so I guess it was over due! biggrin

The wooden benches definitely in keep with the nautical theme anyway.

Yeah definitely the old green seats from years and years ago. Here's a photo I took back in 2008 - it seems the surf board piece of theming has disappeared:

Thanks for posting that, I knew something was missing but couldn't put my finger on it! The surf board on the tower has gone too, maybe they've gone over to Wipeout?

According to their Twitter page, Sky Hooks is still closed?! It hasn't actually opened so far this year, so here's to hoping the problem is not worth fixing and it is to be binned!

:D

Yeah, I remember when I went to PWH back in 2008 and my sister went on Sky Hooks. I just remember it taking sooooooooo long to stop that I was getting very impatient so went and had a drink in the Merry Mariner! It is a very poor ride - a drop tower or a full size Waveswinger like in the olden days would be awesome!

A full size Waveswinger would be good, though I'd be a little disappointed if that turned out to be the only new ride.

Oh dear... just read this on Facebook:

"Pleasurewood Hills: The Laser Labyrinth is the only new ride planned for 2011. I'm sorry to keep saying the same thing to you all, but the best thing to do is just keep an eye on Facebook. If there is any news on any rides for the coming season we will post it on here to keep everyone up to date."

this place is ridiculous, yay theyve painted things but theres still green algae on the clown slide and dodgems, not much i know but a soapy cloth is free! the park was dead on sunday and the weather was glorious, not getting a new ride is plain stupid

WHY is it the only new thing? =/

New owners, new investment, time between Easter and Summer and there's no new ride. Rubbish...

They may have ment its the only ride they current have confirmed for 2011? As in they're looking at others etc. After all, they did follow that up with: "If there is any news on any rides for the coming season...."

We keep asking this guy the same questions and he/she is obviously not slowed to tell us anything so we will just have to wait and see. It seems that they blatantly do have plans in the pipeline :)

^ Hopefully they'll understand the reason why everyone is asking *that* question....

I dont know if this was done for this year or not, but this is a fantastic little touch:

Wasn't it a joke shop before?

Great to see more of Woody around the park really.

Forgot to mention that they've done up the cars on the Fairytale Fantasy Ride, they look good, but the ride is still so very dire, especially now they have actual music/songs playing, instead of the fairytale tunes etc...very random.

Also, looks like all the Go-Karts are getting new shells as there was loads of nice shiney new ones lying by the back of the circuit.
