Message Board Issues

Hi guys, I am starting this topic so you can post any issues, ideas and feedback of the site and forum. Is anyone else experiencing problems with the advanced editor? Basically the icons above the text box are no longer there - quotes, images etc etc. Any ideas?

RE: Forum and Website Feedback

Another thing for Matt to consider: I did mention a few months back about PHPBB forum software. I don't know whether you looked into it but in case you haven't here's the website http://www.phpbb.com/ I think it is free but all I can say is it is a lot easier to use and has some great features like being able to thanks users and a much easier and solid editor. I'm fairly certain your familiar with it as a lot of sites use it, including TowersTimes. Just a thought smile.gif Plus it also has much better smilies confuse.gif

We could do with an area of the forum for feedback really.....Matt, oh MATT? :)

I've come across a few errors on the site that I completely forget about as there's no way of making people aware of them.

Anywho, the only problem I currently have is the 'new post' icon isn't going away for topics that I have read, this actually started today as well.

Its not showing new posts on the index page, its only when I'm in the specific subforum.

Yes, I've noticed this also, particularly when I have just made a new post myself and then when I go back to the main forum it shows my post as new.

And yes maybe a separate section for forum feedback is needed - I mean a separate section in the forum main menu. Aren't you able to do that Martyn with your moderator capabilities?

Just a quick additional note on the PHPBB forum software. It allows for Tapatalk iPhone app capabilities which makes browsing and posting on the go much easier. Perhaps there is a way to make this forum smartphone compatible?

Only Matt can make adjustments like that. The Members section shoud include the Members Lounge, and Feedback Forum.

In saying that, how come the names have changed? The section used to be Hungry Members Pavillion, and this subforum was the Members Lounge, but it seems to be the other way around now?

It was always this way round as far as I can remember.

We are currently setting a forum user record as we speak! 5 members online now - the most ever!

Hi All,

Thanks for the feedback so far. Let me know of any specific problems you have with the message board and I will look into them. A new message board may be something for the future.

Five users at once, eh! This site was always going to have something of a niche following with Pleasurewood not being one of the "big boys" but I have to admit the daily hit count today in comparison to the early days is much improved.

I'll get a feedback section set up soon. Don't forget I can be easily contacted via email (using the link at the top of every page of UPWH) or you can send me a private message on the message board.

Matt

Message Board Issues

My problem with the 'new posts' have gone already! Thanks Matt.

Though is it right that you've changed the links at the top and bottom of each forum page? The left link now take you to the actual site home page, which I keep doing by accident as it used to just take to the index page?

Also, the hompage doesn't look right when you view from that link...

For some reason, a load of random topics in the Pleasurewood Present section have come up as 'new posts', even though some of them are on the second page of topics!

Am I alone with this?

Is there anyway of removing the 'double spacing' between paragraphs when on the 'reply etc' page?

Matt is there anyway to change the edited post notice to not appear if the post is edited within say 3 minutes of the original post being posted. I will often notice an error or something straight away and change it but it then comes up with "this post was edited etc etc". It's not a problem but it would be nicer and the forum neater without it. :)

^ I agree, its not the most subtle of notices really.

I would actually go one further and ask if it can be removed altogether, so long as no one else has posted a response.
