Great to hear so much going on, Shame about the Big Train needing a new engine, hope it's sorted soon.

Apart from that, Enjoy yourself!

The random mirrors around the park sounds a bit..... tacky, if I'm honest. (I'm picturing the type that make you look fat/tall etc)

But the BBQ news is F.A.B (unlikely to happen though, surely? I thought H&S got them removed?)

Anyway, enjoy Italy Ben!

If there is currently no BBQ's what on earth is (what I still call) 'Smokey joes' use for?
As for the mirrors... a few In the kid zone would be best, or in que lines... even in the restaurant.
Sounds like the Big train might be off train this season then.
Voices for Characters ??? Woody going to talk now???

The BBQ's have been gone YEARS, like at least a decade. Its now called the Merry Mariner and is a bar/restaurant.

£8k for the engine! That's a big chunk of doh. I don't think the mirrors would be tacky as long as they look good. Perhaps one could say "Woody Yourself" and it makes you look round. Just a bit of fun around the park, it's what's needed.

Thing is Alton Towers have BBQ's....  Not 100% sure there for public use but they do exsist in the courtyard ...

that 8 grand would be better spent on fixing pirate ship and fireball back to decent thrill rides...

I'm not, it's a great ride, and one of the original rides, Imagine the backlash:

"Yes were celebrating 30 years of opening, however, We will not be spending money on one of the original rides, were spending it on something else."

It's pretty much what I have to live on each year.

I guess if they pay out to for a new bit for the train it will last another 30 years.

8K doesn't seem too unreasonable to me for a complete new engine? Unfortunately that's the cost of years of bodging. (See also Enigma.)

I'm surprised no one else has mentioned the rear jetty on the lake for the peddle boats. Hopefully they will now start using the second miniature railway station?

^ I'm not fussed about that TBH, I quite like how it's one long journey.

I guess the rear jetty was once used for that pull-boat thing? I hope they can get it looking brand new!

I'm thinking it may encourage more people to use the Peddle boats as its a fair way around the lake!

Heck, some people don't even realise that end of the park is there!

I can't see many people waking to the back of the lake to use a peddle boat.

As for the 8K, cheaper to buy a car with a train design make over, with a toe-bar lol

The chairlift disembarks that side of the lake so it makes sense to me.

Not just the Pirate ship, you've still got the STTG, mini railway and castle theater, and TOTC, and a few more bits and bobs.
Ok they've been re--branded over the years but they're still been around in one format for another for such a long time.
So having no big train might a bit disappointing it's not the end of the world.

Train rides are important at theme parks, especially small parks like PWH. The £8k will be money well spent IMO.

Just to confirm, I'm the only one who read Ben's post, they were quoted 8 grand, doesn't mean they will be paying that much.

Yes we read the post, yes we know it was only quoted.. but I doubt they will find anything that much cheaper.
They might get it knocked down to 7k maybe but I can't see it going lower. Kinda like when I was buying a new car, they were all
pretty much around the same price.

I don't think that 8K is that much. The train is a classic ride at PWH and still a family favourite. And remember the laser labyrinth cost 64k, thats 8 times as much.

I very much doubt that it cost £64k.

You can get a decent kids coaster for that price, so I'd be gutted if they did spend that much on it!
