13 June 2010 - With Pics!

13-06-2010

Second visit this season, and a chance to check out whats been happening since last time.

Random remarks:

The 'Circus' show proved popular, and its fair to say that any money spent on the Castle Theatre was behind the scenes, given that several seats were taped up so you couldn't pull them down today!

Wizzy Dizzy: Todays operator was awesome - he was re-starting the ride towards the end of the normal cycle, which gave a FAR superior ride to the normal programme and a very similar one to Eagles Claw at the MUCH improved LWV, where we went two weeks ago.

RE 2011: The Rattlesnake operator stated that the park "want" to relocate Enigma and place a "water rapids" ride in its place. Again just hearsay no doubt, but worth adding to the rumours.

--PICTURES--

Rattlesnake tunnel remains the same:(

Playground now open, why they didn't advertise this as new for 2010 i don't know?:

SNIG's tunnel looks awful, and should really be done by now! I hope they're going to keep the tunnel going over the top and half way down the drop!

If the tunnel is just covering the lift hill, it will always be filled with light! Also hope its going to be covered all the way down to the floor, like it used to be. Looks silly just covering the track, with the frame work underneath it.

And the play area looks so tacky with all the multi colours. Its now a proper 'toddler' play area, as appose to a kids park. Looked MUCH better before in my opinion. It looked sylish and modern before, with things for older kids to do too. A step backwards I feel.

RE 2011: The Rattlesnake operator stated that the park "want" to relocate Enigma and place a "water rapids" ride in its place. Again just hearsay no doubt, but worth adding to the rumours.

I couldn't imagine they'd relocate Enigma to place a Rapids in its place. They're both about the same size. Would be a bit pointless, unless it was to do with the access of ride for maintenance purposes.

Thanks AndyB, nice photos and it was good to see some 'sites of forum interest' in your report. The SITG lift hill looks truly awful, but is this just a work in progress of a complete retheme of the lift?

Interesting about the rapids rumour... after all this is what has been hinted at for the past few years so hopefully this may come into fruition.

^^ Well, its the best ride i've had on WD, so keep it up!biggrin Everyone else seemed to enjoy it too!

RE The Play Area: I think the park have made a decent job of it, its very tidy. It never fails to amaze me how many kids would rather spend the day on the slides than the rides!!!!biggrin

I just think the colours make it look very cheap and tacky. And like I said before, it looks like its more of a toddlers park, rather than a kids play area.

why didn't they put the new one next to wipeout. because it would have been less trouble and as i said before the old one wass good to be themed like timber falls

Like I said, I dont think the new manager know's much about what he's doing really.

Since he's taken charge:

-- SNIG is looking awful
-- Wants a roof over the Go-Karts
-- Nature Trail for next year
-- Tacky toddler play area

NONE of them things is what the park needs. And is in my opinion, a waste of money, and a step backwards for the park.

It's early days yet Martyn but we must give him a chance but as it stands it's not looking good for a new ride next year :(

First of all I think that is a quite unfair statement to make. We don't know much about the new managers plans for the park and we haven't seen his changes to the park yet, so we can't judge them.

The SITG ( not SNIG) tunnel was change made by the previous manager whom didn't bother to theme it. I'm sure we heard from Stitch that were definatley planning to upgrade the tunnel, so at least they aren't totally ignoring it.

I don't really see the problem with adding a roof over the GoKarts, it makes alot sense to keep a Play2Play attraction open all year, and as long as is done well, then I don't see the problem. We don't even know if this was even thought of, it was just a rumour...

I don't see the problem with the Nature Trail either, remember Pleasurewood Hills isn't a thrill park, it's main target audience is families with younger children, so a Nature Trail is quite a suitable attraction and it could be themed quite well. I don't want to knock any ideas until I've seen how they turn out.

I have seen the playpark and this was also added by the old manager I believe, everything new this year has been done by him. We shouldn't blame the new one for things we haven't liked added by the old one.

The new manager has also embarked on repainting the whole park, so this shows that he is keen to see improvements. A poster on here visited and commented that the new painting had made the park look really smart and good, so the Parks atmosphere has already improved under him allegedly.

There are rumours of a water ride being put in the Enigma area, although only rumours, if true, then it would mean we would get a new ride, and probably a retheme of Enigma and it's new surrounding area!

Well even it was a move made by the previous manager, it still hasn't been finished? Wasn't it ment too get finished after Easter? (or the last school holiday, I cant remember?). And I get the feeling when it is finished, it will just be that small tunnel, compared to the 'mountain' it had before.

Oh, and SNIG rolls off the tongue better :P

I don't really see the problem with adding a roof over the GoKarts, it makes alot sense to keep a Play2Play attraction open all year, and as long as is done well, then I don't see the problem.

The reason I dont like that idea is because of how much it would cost. You could get a new ride for the cost of adding a roof to the Go-Karts, and a new ride would bring in more revenue than a bloody roof!lol

Ok, I'll admit that saying he doesn't know what he's doing is a bit harsh (though didn't he say when he first took charge that the park needs more things for kiddies?), but I'll stand by my word that none of them investments are what the park needs.

The Nature Trail..... hmmm, I get the feeling they'll just re-open the pathways from The Land that time forgot. Unless they 'put' some nature in the woods, I cant see it being very good.
