Interesting. The mechanics of the ride are certainly something new, but I imagine there must be more of a "story" to the ride than was shown in the clip, as the video didn't highlight any of the of psychological fear elements mentioned in recent press releases etc...
I'm certainly looking forward to giving it a try in a few weeks time.
This caused a whole hoo-har over on Towers Times yesterday! The GMTV footage didn't do the ride any justice and a later video aired on Central Tonight did a much better job of "selling" the ride.

Check out this link for the video - DO NOT CLICK IF YOU DO NOT WISH TO KNOW WHAT THE SECRET ELEMENT IS!
All in all it looks great! I for one am very excited and will be riding it on Saturday!! :)
It still lacks the pyschological fear etc that Matt mentioned.
You can easily over hype rides and get away with it, like Nemesis being "The worlds most intense roller coaster experience", because it is intense, very intense.
However Alton are going mad over the pyschological fear this coaster gives you, yet if its just as we have seen in the videos, people wont buy it.

i dont know why but with the hype for this ride i was expecting this to be something more than what it has turned out to be.
I went on this yesterday and must say that I wasn't disappointed to an extent. I think the marketing has been aimed towards the wrong audience. It is a very good ride with some amazing theming and a feature that is technically outstanding but it is more of a "family thrill" ride rather than a Nemesis or a Rita for instance.
I don't want to give too much away on here as I'm sure you'd wanna see for yourselves but it is worth it even though it's a little different to what was expected.
Also it eats the queueline to pieces.
Spoiler
Theming 10/10 Ride before indoor section 5/10 Indoor section 9/10 Ride after indoor section 9/10 Overall ride 8/10
There is a trim break on the first drop which you can feel noticeably reducing the speed. Without this it would be much faster on the outdoor section and improve the intensity of the ride. As it stands this section is very slow and tame.
That is made up for in the indoor section where the drop really does get you. It has some amazing lighting and sound effects which really add to the experience. Lastly the backwards section is great fun. It launches you backwards through the helix which rocks the train from side to side which is quite unnerving.
we are now getting to the time of year when we start wondering whats next? thorpe have already submitted planning for there new ride. i would rather the money they might spend on a new ride on upgrading the water park it has few slides and could be a decent park if it was given a bit more attention. what do you think?
Unfortunately AT attraction for 2011, which was rumoured to be a Shrek 4D attraction, was cancelled so there was really nothing new for 2011. The good news is that they have announced a new ride for 2013 which is going to be the most expensive ride AT have ever installed costing £18 million!
