Ideas sent to Terry Nunn

I email Terry Nunn and phoned up the main desk the other week and spoke to Liam with some suggestions for the park for the 2010 season and future, and he said that he was very pleased to see that people was paying interest to the parks future, and these were the ideas:

Woody Bear: Let Woody Bear walk down to main street square and let him meet all of his fans, take photos and sign autographs Music: Why not get some waterproof speakers and then scatter them around the park and put on a local radio station such as: The Beach 103.4 Rides: How about creating a new boat ride on the lake, you could add 5-10 boats and just let people paddle around in small paddling boats? (there used to be in the 1990's) Entrance: How about creating a souvenir guide on entry to the park and sell it for like £1.50. With information on rides, shows, the park today and history of the park, with a picture of woody bear and space to give you his autograph. Include pictures of the park, and in the book a park map should also be included. Golf: Creating a crazy golf, with a unique water and maritime themeing, for a donation. How about behind the old entrance to the sealion show? Seating Areas: How about creating a sit - down area next to the Snake In The Grass in a big marquee tent with decorations such as bunting, show times etc. Decoration: Putting up bunting around the park near the Snake In The GrassIts all of them little things that will make a huge difference towards the park. But weather they decide to pay attention to any of these its up to them, i just thought that these were good as a low cost for each one, these could start out little and end up huge.

Not that I want to put a downer on your news, but this could have gone in one of the MANY future topics we have on the forum, instead of creating yet another one!

Hi Reece,

I really like your ideas. The ones that stand out are the sit down area - I envisage this to be something like the Mutiny Bay courtyard at AT where you can sit down, have a drink or some food and also enjoy a show.

A souvenir guide would be brilliant and I for one would definitely buy one.

I agree that the lake really needs to be utilised. The pedal boats were so simple but did provide great fun and it was just another easy way to add an attraction to the park.

It's nice that the park are appreciative of our enthusiasm for the place.

A Splash Battle would be the best thing for the lake!

They're too much money either....

Oh for gods sake Pleasurewood just bloody build some new, decent rides! Are you not at all embaressed with how empty the park is? There are so many little things that could be done to improve the park SO much, yet nothing is ever done.

I think whilst I wrote that little rant, I just lost all hope with Pleasurewood. The park is full, FULL of 'school boy errors' which even the GP can see, let alone us!

Even on the tightest of tight budgets the park could be improved 100%, but no its not, and to rub salt in, the park has a bloody huge budget.

Right, I'm off to go kick a wall.

LOL

furious

It is very frustrating! I'm sure there are some good second hand rides, in good condition out there!

OK, the park looks a lot better, paint work, main st, resturants etc, but it needs RIDES.

Its been said before on here, Enterprise, Waveswinger etc run of the mill yes, but good solid attractions, and loads about second hand.

It's so annoying- WHY is it that they don't build new rides? Surely they must realise that nobody new will come to the park if there is nothing new there and that regulars will stop going once they have tried everything and theres new to bring them back!

However, I do think the current management of the park are doing well, the park looks so much more professional and cleaner. There is  no denying that.

Hopefully an enigma retheme is on the cards, although it has not been advertised. In fact nothing has! blehcry

when grevin & cie tookover the park in 2005 they said they would spend £3 million on the npark however since 2005 wthe park has got wipeout, thundercrap and a general clean up of the park. ther still must be atleast £1 million left of that £3 million.

True, do you think they would spend it on a Enigma refit? From what Unoffical Pleasurewood is saying there has been no work on the park yet- hmm- which is VERY worrying. Looks like there in no hurry to spend any money this year, which is a MASSIVE shame as Pleasurewood could be a very good park.

You have to remember that money really doesn't go far but it is very difficult to comment on anything fiscal because we really have no idea.

The "general clean up" of the park as you put it has been a lot more than that. Since Grevin and Cie took over the park has had:

Log Flume -> Mellow Yellow
Canonball Express -> Enigma
Boat ride -> Tale of the Coast
Brand New facades down main street and nearby
Wipeout
Relocation of the entrance to the Sea Lion Show.
Mellow Yellow -> Timber Falls
Brand New Website and marketing campaign
Spruced up entrance with new park logos
Rename of the majority of rides for the better
A traditional carousel

I think this was all done under Grevin and Cie. But my point is that alot of money has been spent on the park.

Of course I am disappointed that no major new attractions have happened for 3 years now but the park is much, much better than it was.

^ Jeez Josh, that Carousel was added in 2003 I think? School Boy error or what?!!

They spent £2m in their first year, which was the 'clean up' for the park, which included the ride re-vamps and all new restraunts etc, and the main street being tarted up. Oh and they also bought in Thunderstruck.

Then they spent £1.5m on Wipeout in 2007.

AND THAT IS IT!

Its odd really, you could maybe understand the park not addiding any new rides for so long if they had financial difficulties and the park generally was a bit crap and full of fair rides, like it used to be, BUT, CdA spent ALOT of money on improving the park, trying to remove the 'tacky' fair ground image, and then they go and spend shed loads of money on building the biggest and best ride Pleasurewood has EVER seen, well we all went mental thinking this is it, Pleasurewood has changed forever, but no...

It just seems odd that a company would invest SO much money in the park (when was the last time any owner of Pleasurewood spent nearly £4m on the park, let alone in just two years..) and then just pretty much leave it to rot?

Thats going over the top a bit, they're not leaving it to rot, the park is still improving, it is clean and tidy, ride's are still getting revamped etc, but there is nothing to make people return for this year, just like last year, and the year before.

However, this does slightly build my confidence towards seeing a new ride for 2011. But I really wont get my hopes up!

(I think I'm going to start playing the Euro Millions more often!)

Money has been spent on the park, true, but in order for people to return a new addition EVERY year is vital. Even some new kids rids would be something...

When the park had its most successful period, late 80s, early 90s, new rides came in year after year. Not a coincidence, surely?

I love PWH but its becoming almost an effort to visit now due to the lack of new additions. yawn.

Wipeout is, IMO a perfect coaster for the park, but lets be honest they haven't done that very well - ie running with 8 empty seats, whatever the reason, is just poor.

Guy's try and keep optimistic! All the little improvements that we are seeing are still improvements, every year the park does something, no matter how small, that makes it that bit better. Timber Falls looks so much better than it did in 2008 and the improvements to theming show that Pleasurewood are keen in improving the upkeep of there current rides.

The park spokesman did kind of confirm that something was happening to Enigma and that idea's were being looked at, but it all depended on size and budget. This builds my hopes up that we will see some improvement on this ride.

Hopefully they are saving for something special in 2011, I for one, won't be getting my hopes up yet though...

The thing is though, the park doesn't need another massive ride, it just needs lots of small/medium rides to help make it a complete day out. One more ride still isn't going to be enough.

Yeah, I kind of agree, after all, last year it was me saying that. But at the moment, nothing has changed for this year, at least last year we knew Timber Falls was getting a re-vamp, and it was a massive improvement, but this year, so far, nothing!

Yeah they've said they haven't finished with Timber Falls yet, but I wont hold my breath, and they say something is happening with Enigma, and even if they do get 2 trains running, its hardly something to scream and shout about! After all it must have them that  caused the problems with the ride in the first place!

The thing is, they should be making these little improvments aswell as bringing in new attractions.

Hopefully, but what is special? After so many seasons with nothing, its gonna take more than portable rapids, for example.

Even if something big came in, there is still the issue of 'filler' rides, which is the main downfall of the park.

it is a shame i remeber a fairground area before the takeover, and i could easily see that in between wipeout and sitg, and it would help bring visitors back, but it would need to be put there along side a major install ment like a rapids or something.

I knew something out of my list was going to be wrong! smile

I agree though and am not disputing the need for another ride but the park is so much better now than it was.

You guys are right though at the moment there is nothing tempting me to return to the park this year which is a shame.

^ I know what you mean, the park is better than it used to be. The food is now really good and just in general the park is very nice, clean and 'pretty'. It doesn't feel like a dodgy fairground like it used to, it does now feel like a proper theme park.

Just need some more rides, thats all!

Couldn't agree more. The parks best flat Wizzy Dizzy is a travelling model and that's the problem with the park. There are some great permanent additions and over time I would like to see them replace the travelling rides with more substantial additions. But first and foremost a brand new attraction is needed.

I believe something is going to happen to Enigma. If they put two trains on that ride then that will be a massive improvement. I also believe that some sort of themeing will be added to the ride. These improvements , however small, still show that the park are keen on maintaining standards and it shows that the park be thinking of dragging on the revamp as they have with TF.

It's my belief that that they must be saving for something good in 2011, otherwise  really despair!!!!!

Yes it is good that they like to keep the rides up to scrath etc, that will stop the park becoming run down, which is obviously a good thing.

However, things like that aren't going to bring guests back. And remember what Mr Nunn said, they'll only build new rides if they get enough visitors. Yet how can they expect to get any visitors with addiding new attractions?

A kind of Catch 22 problem there for the park. :(

If they got one major investment like alex's idea of a small cheap eurofighter they would get many visitors then they can make more rides ect. And this one rude should be similar perhaps to Saw the ride which I think would really improve the park ,tho without the theming or a totally different theme

i don't think there is enough spacefor somthing on the scale of Saw but something a bit smaller would do.
