These photos are really good. Some of the themeing is actaully quite scary for a family-themed park!

Well Done to all the people who made the first "real" Halloween event such a success.

Yeah some of that stuff is quite good, though some is just tatt.

The pumpkins and the grim reaper guy on that roof top look good.

But white sheets in the woods? Give over! They should have had live actors in the woods. That would be awsome. Though no doubt every child on the train would be crying!lol

And top marks to the ride op dressed up as Beetlejuice! Did all staff dress up?

Hi guys... any ideas why i'm seeing red crosses instead of photos. I'm keen to check them out but can't see them for some strange reason.

a Few did , that was proberly by far the best :)
depending on what ride you are on as to what you could wear no good wearing long flowing cloaks ect if your operating rides where clothing can catch in the machinery , same with masks  few wore masks but, once operating the rides you tend to find that your vision is obscured to a certain degree so you cant watch whats going on around you to well. :)

They did have some live actors wandering around the park ie  undertaker looking character with white facepaint, a short old guy dressed in top hat long flowing black cloack and a blood soaken apron underneath  who wandered around the park very slowley , then there was a victorian looking couple wandering the park again with whitened faces, its been real funny watching them walk up behind someone and just wait untill the person turns round and jumps out of their skin, same with stitch i could have watched it all day :).
i Think stitch was in the woods at certain times jumping out on the passing train, the stitch outfit blends in very well with trees and bushes behind him.
maybe they should have had 2 stitches  one for the wood area and one for the main park area :)

Those sheets in the woods- no. They look atrocious, while some other areas of the park look really quite professional!

Wow! Great pictures Datman! Park looks great! It seems the weather on Sunday put a dampener on most parks day with LWV and Flamingoland also having to shut early in the morning!

I'll agree that the ghosts in the wood are rather pitiful and the idea of just chucking a load of pumpkins in a boat wasn't the best but all in all it looks like some great theming! How was the fireworks display?

Re: Firwork Display
lantern parade from main street towards the castle then down to the lake then fireworks over the lake
nice 10-15 min display for a park of that size :)

Hi all,
haven't posted in ageeees.

Was at the park on Saturday, not too bad weather and a nice atmosphere. Rides were mostly walk ons/2-3 minute ques, so things were nice.

The guy working rattlesnake is actually a mate of mine, top marks to him for his costume. He was operating it brilliantly with 3/4 circuits, depending on the que.

A general 'normal' park day for the most part, however being 6ft 2', Wipeout was sore and rough, but a thrilling ride none the less.

One thing I did notice was that Engima was closed for 'essential maintenance'. Is this the first sparks of a re-development?

The atmosphere was much greater as it got darker, Whizzy Dizzy parading it's lights; at one point the op used the strobes to great cheers (always wondered why they had kept them on the ride platform), and the carousel looked quite spectacular.

Fireworks were a great end to the day, lighting up the lake and with the lanterns shining it was all very surreal.

Welldone pleasurewood, let's hope it, along with other themed days and a re-development of some sort return next year.

Hmm, thats odd, as taller people genrally find rough rides to be 'less rough' than shorter people. I can vouch for that, I'm 6'3", and I rarely find a rough ride!

From what you say Leon, it sound like a real good day, the only thing that worries me is you say all rides were basically walk-on. Thats not good for such an important day in the calender!

Fireworks were a great end to the day, lighting up the lake and with the lanterns shining it was all very surreal.

That sounds very Disney-ie to me. Grr wish I had gone now!

-Uh oh! This seems to me that the park was quite empty even if the weather was bad! disbelief

-The Enigma news carries some hope, however Im not going to get too excited as Essential Works could mean anything! Hoping however that a re theme is on the cards, as another nothing year for the park will be really damaging!

-I personally think Wizzy  Dizzy looks a bit tacky and straight off the fairground with those lights but I suppose it does have to be light!

Datman or Stich- do you know know anything about the work son Enigma?!

Thanks for the little review Leon. It's good that they saw off the season with a successful day and a good fireworks display and hopefully they will build on it for next year. Does anyone have any official gate figures for Saturday?

Now for the closed season to bring us something exciting for next year!

Yeah it is definitely interesting news about Enigma being closed, especially on what would normally be a very busy half term day, let alone having all the halloween and firework events! That definitely points towards some developements with the ride over the winter months!

Patrick, dont read too much into the 'essential maintenance' sign, its ,ost probably just a generic sign they use all the while.

Yes it is the bog standard sign that is used,  the enigma train was  removed at the end of full season and oviousley the ride has been closed since.
personally i dont think it will be revamped, maybe the break blocks will be worked on and there may be 2 trains operating next season.

What do you mean by 'full' season? Surely it wasn't removed just after the summer holidays?

To be honest, with the state the ride is in, I would guess it needs a completely new braking system if more than one train were to operate.

And even if they were just to fix the brakes it has, which could enable 2 train operations, that is still a massive improvement for the park.

But the fact that it closed early goes to show that it could be more than just 'winter maintenance' being carried out this winter :)

Fingers crossed! I hope we don't just get an Enigma revamp though.

This is what I was thinking... it really does need some maintenance as when I last went on the ride (2007!) it was in a state.

I hope that an Enigma revamp isn't the only thing on the cards for next season, but I suppose it all depends on the scale of the revamp ( if there is on at all!) and Pleasurewood Hills usually only bring in one major thing per season and add lots of little bits- however I think in 2008 Woody's Flunky Flyers was the only thing added? Any one heard any rumours anywhere else? smile

It was removed after oct 27th  so it was not running during the halloween week. :)

Same thinking, as you guys. Surely, if there was to be general maintenance, they'd just wait until the end of half term - this early work could suggest improvement on any scale - from brakes, to re-theme and re-location.

It's interesting to hear about it none the less, however.

This is the second year without any new 'major' edition to the park. Let's hope it's going to be either Enigma reborn or something midly thrilling!

If you want to be really picky, the last year that we had nothing 'new' to look foward to was 2006, and that was only because Wipeout's planning issuse's, which delayed it until 2007. In 2008 there was the Woodys Flying School (which I think may be an 'in house' build, I'm sure datman could confirm that?) and for 2009 there was the 'Tango' show thing which was new for the Circus show.

On a completely different note, it annoys me that such a small 'kiddie' ride takes up that lovely spot where the Cine180 used to be. Its such a nice area, which is well landscaped and deserves a large ride, like a tower ride of some sort, but no it has a hideous kiddie ride!

im afraid i cant confirm on a  in house build on that ride as it was  there before i was (a very simple ride to operate though), what i will say is that the ride that is in this location is tucked out of the way and most people with small children bypass it untill  they notice it as they approach from the direction of the small railway station. as you say  if they moved woody flying school elsewhere that would definatly  create quite a bit of room in that area for a bigger ride.

Yes, it is all very interesting- do you think Pleasurewood Hills could confirm anything soon to get people excited for the next season...

If these Enigma rumours come to nothing and nothing new is added next year, I really fear for the Parks future!

But they wouldn't do that would they... would they?!disbelief

well we only know one thing and thats they are looking to get a family ride for next season, anything else they are keeping to themselves at the moment.

I did write that it has been two years without major addition(s) to the park. The family ride sounds okay, but I guess it depends what it is. On their website, they class the pirate ship as a family ride, so it could be a midly-thilling addition, or some tat cups and saucers, from a fairground.

I think rumours that have existed before include:
  • Water ride in Rattlesnake area
  • Water ride on site of Hungry Bear Pavillion
  • Drop Tower near Wave Breaker
  • Spinning coaster from Camelot
If only they were true!

Yeah, it  could be a good year at Pleasurewood Hills if they get a good, decent family ride and if Enigma get's a nice refit.

But I suppose it all depends on what the park have in mind as a "family ride"...

I'd rather the park didn't confirm anything, that way it gives us something to speculate over during winter! It keeps us on our toes!

And a family ride can mean anything, look at the Family ride Alton are getting next year, not that Pleasurewood will ever get anything like that.

Remember, Terry Nunn told Josh "What we do not have at Pleasurewood Hills is a family ride that can take all members of the family".

Just because something is a family ride, doesn't mean it cant be enjoyed by adults, though the park is in desperate need of another thrill ride. I hate looking at the list of the thrill rides and seeing Thunderstruck and Timber Falls!lol! It make me feel sick!

Yeah, surely the park MUST be looking at there website and thinking-

"Hmm, yeah maybe we need something that really is thrilling to fill this up abit!" biggrin

There were rumours about a ride at Camelot being given to Pleasurewood Hills
