Does anyone know what PH would consider a good day gate figures wise? The reason I ask is that I know the big theme parks will look for between 15 - 20k and I just wondered what a small park like PH would look for? 3-5K? 1-2k?
Does anyone know the capacity for the park? Does anyone know their busiest day this season/ever?
When i worked there, Peter Hadden said 5000 through the gates and we were struggling to cope.
I REALLY hope gate figures improve this year, and show the new company that this place is worth investing in on a regular basis.
Ligh****er Valley last year brought in several new rides for the new Pirate area and gate figures were no different from previous years. They tried putting a brave face on it, stating the current economic climate etc, but after such investment they must have been hoping for a good rise in attendance. This year they have cancelled the building of a tractor ride, never mind bringing in anything else. I hope the investment at PWH, and the general excitment thats building on here and FB etc, is justified.
^ I agree. Its a shame that things have gone all quiet from the park, I was really hoping they'd keep updating FB etc with pictures from arond the park, not just for our benefit, but to get everyone else involved too. Even non-enthusiasts like to think they're in the know when it comes to things like theme parks, so everyone would welcome little updates.
Just on the LWV note, that is a real big shame. They have put so much effort in the last 2 or 3 years. Hopefully they'll see that improvement this season. I hope PWH can attract more visitors, and with these 5 new attractions and a decent marketing campaign I can't see them not TBH.
With LWV, chances are, with out the new pirate area, gates figures may welll have dropped?
Also, LWV is too expensive for what it has to offer (£22). Raptor Attack is good, very good, but you can only ride it first thing, because as soon as a queue has developed, its not worth it (only has 2 cars, each holding 4 people, so technically the same through put as Enigma). The Ultimate is obviously amazing, but there's only so many rides your body can handly in one day.
Just digging this topic up as we had some info from the interview with Ben that gate figures were 180k which was up 10k on previous year. That end a few years of decline which is excellent.
He also mentions that they were below target for #TheChills but they put that down to weather and having to shut for a day (storm rocked through). Although he didn't say I assume that's up on The Hills Have Eyes 2012.
I do believe that #TheChills gate figures are measured into 2014's overall figures and not 2013's.
up by 10k doesn't see a lot considering the busy year it had but I guess it's a upward climb.
Word of mouth spreading my attract more people this year, the new coaster, Hobs still keeping people increased and while the Chills might have not got as many people though the gates it revived a lot of positive feedback which might attract people to give it a look this year. All theses things have a knock on effect, not always a 'hit' straight way.
At the end of day the last two years and been the best for years, gust count has increased, credibility as increased, profits are now being made so it's all good.

Yep that's the main thing, the park isn't losing money! I think this season will grow again. Hopefully get some further out reach marketing wise. I still have been say things like "oh is that place still open". Are we getting a TV ad this season Ben?
No TV at present, we're producing some nice videos for online use etc. - Radio Ad's were produced for Opening, HoBs PiT Launch, Summer & Halloween last year Coolskin.
Don't forget the poor 2012 Halloween gate figures due to the weather were on 2013 Gate Numbers. We also had a very cold Easter in 2013. Despite that, we managed to fill those big gaps in numbers and grow around 10K more than the previous year. Not too bad. :)
