Changes I noticed At Pleasurewood Hills Today

Today I went to Pleasurewood Hills, expecting it to be another "meh" day, but I was pleasantly suprised:

Obviously Timber Falls, which I think is an Improvement.

Wizzy Dizzy ran for twice as long and seemed to swing higher.

Wipeout no longer had to wait 6 or 7 minutes to be dispatched.

THIS IS WIERD!: Green Cannonball Express train was on Enigma (it still had
Cannonball Express signs on and painted in the origional colours.

New lights inside Snkae in the Grass to add on to the ones already inside.

Rattlesnake no longer stopped to go round again it just shot round the corner, plus the lift seemed to be quicker.

Great day, now they just need to run the second slide on Wave Breaker, put 2 trains on Enigma (which they do have, infact I think they have 3!), build a few more thrill rides and fix the broken seats on Wipeout, voila, perfect park!

Great to know that they have improved a couple of things through the park. They must be using that other train for a reason. Maybe they are preparing for running the coaster on two trains? Will be interesting to see if they do this.

I visited the park a few weeks ago, and Enigma was closed all day with no trains on the track and a section of track missing near the brakes at the end.

I'm gonna make a visit next week I think so I'll see what's going down then. Maybe Datman knows the situation?....

I hope it's still on the track, I don't know why, but it seemed quite magical to see it on the tracks, the colour scheme is so much better!

"Rumours" on Enigma are its due to be overhauled (long overdue)end of season, this will be a complete overhaul, also there was talk that the ride was due to be moved to where the kiddies adventure playground is behind the pirate ship , this was just talk and personally i think this is just  a wild rumour.
What will proberly happen is at the end of the season the ride will be compleatly overhauled and put back in its same location (again due to noise reduction) with 2 trains running, this information cannot be taken as 100% true as things may chance between now and the end of the season :)

Timber falls:   Notice the half working fountain?
this was the centre piece at the end of main street in the middle of the square back in the 80's biggrin

Wizzy Dizzy :  ride length is dependant on the operator as its all manual operated
max height for the ride has not changed , if operator keeps ride at 100%  each set of seats should reach max height eventully, as if just basic operation is used then whatever 2 sets of seats are east and west of the ride will go highest (about 10-15 ft higher than the other 2 sets of seats which would be at the side)

Wipeout:Ride is now opening at 10.30am unless entrance figures for the morning are low then its 11.30am  the ride has never waited 6-7 minutes all season (no management have inforced this rule) so we operate it as soon as we have enough people for it.

Rattlesnake: again lengh of ride is up to operator, officially all operators have been told to stop the ride after the first go round to see if anyone wishes to get of the ride
weather the operators do this or not is anotherthing
the way i look at it is they can watch the ride and see what it does before getting on
if they dont like the ride then they dont go on :)
if it was automatically done then there would be no stopping after the first go round
(can you imagine the runnaway train at alton towers being stopped after each time round??)biggrin
if no brakes are applied after the first time round, the lift hill will seem faster as the snake is hitting the lift hill at full speed  and wont slow down untill the last few cars hit the lift hill.

Wavecoaster:  2nd chute officially requires another 2 operators
it has been run with just 2 operators and 2 chutes but this can create problems
operator at bottom has to do twice the work and involves a lot of walking
operator at top will be lifting twice as many boats (although not that heavy in the morning , by 5pm-6pm they start to feel very heavy) General public do not move to quick when both chutes are open and dont respond quick enough to the operators commands, there is a sign at the top of the stairs saying please do not enter platform untill advised by operator, about 1% read this sign, so you have one eye on the empty boats coming up the belt, another on chute 1 then u need to keep eye on chute 2 and keep an eye on whats happening at bottom of chutes and on where people are behind you. its not an easy task operating 2 chutes with 1 person, one of the Main reason one chute is used where possible is people want to have their pictures taken  by family friends ect so they want to go down the right hand chute so they can get their pictures taken from friends n families standing on the pavement.

Enigma: 2 trains Could happen next year ????

Wipeout:  there are no broken seats on wipeout , the two sets of seats that are closed work fine.
i will try to find out the real reson for not using these 2 sets of cars, as if you go  to www.youtube.com  and look up walibi world they have exactly the same coaster with the same cars and they are using all their cars to max capacity.

Famous General Public Quotes Pleasurewood Hills
"The seats are all wet"  Timber falls 2009

Wow, we have acitivity at Pleasurewood finally!

I pretty certain Enigma wont be movede to another location, thats al of hassle, time, and money, oh and they'd need to apply for planning permission.

A ride re-vamp is a possibility though. It would cost a fair bit of money, but it would ensure Pleasurewood has a decent, reliable family coaster. Also by doing this, it pretty confirms the park wont be removing it anytime soon, which is good to know.

From what I can remember, the trains aren't the actual issue with Enigma, it was the MCBR's (mid course break run). I had been on it a few times in the past where the train has got stuck in the first one (after the 2nd drop). So I guess they got fed with that, and disable all the MCBR's, meaning only 1 train would be able to operate at any one time.

I wonder why the 2 'Enigma' trains have gone though....

This is weirdly exciting for me, mainly because I'm a massive fan of the ride, and I've said I'd love to see it restored to running full capacity. It would almost be like a new attraction for Pleasurewood!

Enigma still gets stuck in the final  break block , it got stuck about 5 times today good job its only used to slow the train down for the unloading station.
There definatly is no other train in sight anywhere, i would imagine that if the ride gets a major overhaul , the earliest we will see another train is when its up and runnng again next year, now the season is under way there is no way that they would be able to get the time to get the break blocks working to introduce another train onto the track

It is very weird seeing that train again! I'm surprised its in a good enough state to use after being unused for so long!

Yeah the final break block has always been a pain. They need to completely remove and replace all the break sections with a new, reliable break system.

Thanks for those pics Datman. I would imagine that if the rumours are true then are currently getting the old trains into working order hence why we are seeing them on the track now, who knows. Could be an exciting year next year if we get a new ride and an Enigma o0verhaul.

i would be interested to find out when/where  it was confirmed as well, as last i heard this was just a rumour as to what could happen next year, latest is that there will be no re-vamp of the ride after all :(   but that could change time and time again.

I emailed Terry Nunn regarding the rumours. I must say he is very nice to reply to my email questions although never lets much out of the bag! Anyway, he said that they weren't 100% sure whether they are going to revamp Enigma but if they do it may be in line for a name change also!

Well thats good to hear. At least that means they are thinking about, and not letting the ride rot away.

It has to be done really. It has the worst through put of any ride in the UK, and its not just us entusiasts that now this. Alot ot people comment on how the long the queue takes to move.

^ Yes, I notice alot of people leaving, and it's not jus the fact the queues are long, it's that the ride isn't really worth the wait, and about the name change, I am looking forward to this, I have never really taken to Enigma, especially in a "maritime themed" park, they done well with Wipeout, but other than that I don't know, I wonder if all the cars get repaints :/ I assume they will.

Another new thing I noticed yesterday was the relocation of the queue to The SeaLion Show to near Timber Falls and Wizzy Dizzy which is a vast improvement!

As far as Enigma goes, well something definitely needs to be done. Apart from having an immensely low throughput the atmosphere in the hole is dire. Compare it to the atmosphere on Wipeout and it's a vast difference. I honestly think it is more than likely they will do something next season.

What I will say though it the park is really neat and tidy at the moment and they have put in a lot of effort moving rides around to create a better atmosphere on park. I think they will try to continue this next season, hopefully. Anyway, I have created a trip report in the My Visits section for you guys to enjoy.

What rides have been moved?

I dont know if I agree with moving the Sea Lion show entrance. Now no one has any reason at all to go down near the 'park', as there's nothing there now, apart from a walk to Thunderstruck.

They have moved the Balloon Rays ride thing down to near SITG and Woody Copters to near Wipeout.  It certainly made a difference down the end where SITG is.
(I hope they weren't there last year and I just didn't notice!!)

Could they be thinking of cutting that area of the park off altogether?  There was the rumours of Enigma being relocated which could hint at their plans.  There is a plot of land next to the Sea Lion show which you can see here behind the queue:
IMG_4182.jpg

Could they be considering a relocation out of the hole to here? I don't know it's just a thought but if they cut off that end of the park where Enigma and Thunderstruck is now and concentrate the rides to the more busy areas around TF and Wipeout it could make a big difference to the atmosphere in the park.

Just a thought really.

To be honest, if they were going to move Enigma to that field, I would have thought they'd leave the Sea Lion queue where it was, as it is now kind of blocking access to that field.

They have moved the Balloon Rays ride thing down to near SITG

Lol, you need to pay more attention, they have been there for YEARS!

I don't know it's just a thought but if they cut off that end of the park where Enigma and Thunderstruck is now

What and make the park even smaller than it already is? I bloody hope not!lol

Even if they were to put another ride on that small 'field' in between Thunderstruck and the Sea Lion show, it wouldn't really require the entrance to the show to be moved, as more people would be in that for the new ride, if that makes sense. And its not like the Sea Lion show is ever unpopular.

I dont get their motive in doing this...

Haha, brilliant! Maybe it was just because it was a lot busier down that end than when I went last July!  Oh well, I swear something's been moved somewhere!  I'm right about the Woody Copters though?

Anyway, as regards to that field there is always scope to move Wizzy Dizzy which could open up an area for access to that field if they were to use it.

Yeah me either!  I think the crater is a great feature and even if they do move Enigma I would like to see something in it's place, a drop tower for instance.

I think the crater would be better for a Euro-Fighter coaster. And we know planning permission should be ok for a drop tower in the park at normal level (Mega Drop)...

Anyway, as regards to that field there is always scope to move Wizzy Dizzy which could open up an area for access to that field if they were to use it.

That is actually a really good idea. And could show how only one new ride + plus relocating some rides could benifit the park SO much. Move Enigma to that field, relocate Whizzy Dizzy to the old Hungry Bears plot, move the Carousel to opposite Wipeout, and place a Euro-Figher in the crater = a MUCH better park, with a MUCH better layout.

Then just get some of them Rapids next to SNIG, and the park is near on full, with alot less empty fields! And how much of a cost? Not much!

Oh and you are right about the Woody Copters, they were moved to opposite Wipeout this year. Which is odd really, why only move one of the tiny rides? It must look lost sitting there on its own.

I would love for the park to get a Eurofighter for the reasons that they are relatively cheap, they are great fun and it would be very easy to market as people will recognise the distinctive drop and compare it to Saw which would work wonders.

I know there are the fairground versions (Rage) which must be cheaper than the permanent ones (Saw and Speed) but I would love for a permanent one. Anyway, we can but dream - so this family orientated ride next year....Rapids hopefully.
