Whirlwind Rollercoaster Rumour

Everywhere I keep hearing or seeing the same rumour that the recently closed Camelot Theme Park in Lancashire is selling some of it's rides,  including Whirlwind it's spinning coaster, people seem to think that Pleasurewood Hills is trying to buy it, has anyone else heard more?

Well, that certainly would be a fantastic buy if they did/could! It would replace the emptiness left behind of Magic Mouse, and a perfect family-style coaster for the park.

That would be fantastic if they were as those spinning coasters are great fun and it would be an awesome addition to the park. However, I heard that Camelot were going to open this year and the site seems to confirm this:

This woud be a fantastic addition to the park.

IMO it would go perfectly where the current shoddy old Waveswinger sits.

I dont think it will happen though, its not long till the park re-opens. It would have happened by now.

Maybe next year then, and I have no idea why that website says it will open April 4th, I swear it was revealed it was it's last season?

It was never confirmed though, they said that the park probably wont re-open for 2009.

Suppose its good news though, at least Knightmare will live on for at least another year!

Prehaps Camelot will sell Whirlwind when they close if it's still in good enough spec, but tbh it isn't atm anyway.

Yes the word on the street is that it is in a terrible condition.

I think if/when they do put it up for sale it will get brought by a travelling fair and just go up the road to the New Pleasureland site.

Could have been a chineese whispers thing, Pleasureland > Pleasurewood

Word on the street now is that Camelot is going to open on May 23rd but is continuing to sell it's rides throughout the year and has already sold a couple.

So there could still be some truth in this rumour yet.smile

So if they if they have sold it to PWH, and thats a big if, what color scheme do you think they will go with, and what name?

May I suggest black track( or dark blue ) and maroon supports with blue and yellow cars.

Haven't thought of a name yet.  I don't know maybe something like Dynamite..confuse

^ Needs to be a bit more Maritime/storm themed, Maelstrom, Vortex, Tornado, Tempest, Monsoon, Typhoon, Cyclone, Hurricane, Whirlwind

Things like that, plus I don't like your idea for colour scheme, I would go with dark blue track with light blue, black or white supports.

wouldn't it be a bit too similar to wipeout with dark blue and light blue supports??

I like the name Typhoon though!!  What about Tsunami??  It could have Dark blue track and either white or grey supports.

I think they might have finalised something with camelot judging by some of the rumours floating around the last few days, but I don't think they will install it till next season

Went to Chessington today. Dragons Fury was running pretty good, a lot better than when I rode it the last time( 2007 )!! Does anyone know how Whirlwind compares??

Another thing, I rode rattlesnake. The themeing on it is pretty good and covers all the ugly supports. Maybe PWH could do something like this with whirlwind. That is if they are still getting it!!! Just a thought.....

Well when I rode it aaaaages ago, it was fine, but going by what the majority of people are saying on CF, I'd say its in a pretty bad way.

Personally, I love Whirlwind and Dragons Fury is kinda "meh" for me.
