2017 + That NEW ride

Mmm family ride is good. Theming is crucial for it you feel like a real addition.

I guess it's possible Hyper Drive has been changed, maybe it'll run more than 5 cars at a time, or the Go-karts have been giving a make over,

But i get the impression something has been converted to a family ride that required an outside theming company and Hobs sounds most likely i hope i'm wrong.

What if they've built something using some of the rattlesnake track? is that even possible?

Maybeits the Pirate Ship? It's in desperate need of a mechanical refresh (last time I rode was atrocious) and a new theme would've most welcome??

That's all that really comes to mind. That or the carousel but that is pretty good looking anyway.

When I was last at the hills a few weeks ago, the only ride closed was Jolly Roger. I can't see that being described as a family ride by any stretch of the imagination, so it must've just been closed due to operational reasons!

Good call on Pirate Ship, it looks pretty tatty right now. And they are putting in next to no effort into Hobs at the moment, so I reckon that'd be a good shout too!

But would you need a outside company to re-theme the pirate ship? Also he said they were changing a ride.. how could you change a swinging ship into something else.. it'll always be a swinging ship.

Maybe they're putting spinning cars on Marble Madness? at the time it was built they said it was a possibility.

I hope it's TTT or Enigma.

I can't remember anything being closed the other week. Maybe 'changing' is in reference to TTT lifting? Stranger things have happened...

I don't think the pirate ship even gets to full height in its current state. Isn't blade at AT a huss as well?

The pirate ship has not swung at full height for years now. Shame. Yes blade is huss

I remember blade being far better than PWH's pirate ship. If I'm right, black buccaneer is a huss as well. Having something like that would be great.

Unfortunately Pleasurewood's and Lightwater Valley's HUSS pirate ships are in a pretty shabby mechanical state. Oakwood run their HUSS Pirate Ship at half height at certain times for smaller children, which is about the height these other 2 get to at their best! It may a total coincidence, however it's funny both the struggling machines were owned by Bembom Rides at one time, what on earth did they do (or not do) to them? Haha. Unsure on the age of Pleasurewood's machine, Lightwater Valley's was one of the first built in 1978 though.

Definitely think they should look at getting their pirate ship and The Tide Traveller properly looked at and brought up to scratch - they were built to last, they just need some TLC. It would be like having two brand new rides.

I really can't see that the park have looked into all the options for getting the tri-star working again. Have they contacted Bussink (still trading) that extensively refurbed the ride in 1996? How about HUSS Park Attractions (not the same HUSS, but a successor to the old company). They are making new Enterprises and Airboats (themed Troika), whose parts are surely incredibly similar to that of a Tri-Star? Go simple and give La Mer de Sable a phone call? They operate a HUSS Tri-Star in France...

La Mer de Sable are also owned by the Looping Group. Interesting!

Could be Hobs if this is to go by

First season it was open 5 to 6 actors- operators
last few seasons ride operated with less actors and operators opening half way through day money cut backs :(
a sad day but good memories of being in charge of the ride for its first 2 seasons and organising and training some great people/ Actors  for the ride :)

Oh well i'll add it to the list of reasons the hills sucks, how are they gonna sell tickets this year.
Pirate ship will probs be bulldozed next... Yet someone on Facebook as adamant the park has a bright future, well they're going the wrong way about it.

In just two years, with no replacements
No Hobs
No Rattlesnake
No TOTC
Closed restaurants
Broken TTT
Empty Castle

on top of
Clapped out Chair Lift
**** Dodgems

Also on top of a vekoma boomerang that feels like it's gotten rougher since last season in my opinion. Oh, and enigma's 'retheme' if anything has even happened with that (I mean beyond the paint and name).

Yes summer shows to return for 2018 in the castle after a refurb so assumingly it's the peak season only. Also in that thread is mention of a new ride coming soon, again I assume it's for 2018 and it isn't the hobs retheme

Incident at the park involving fire aireal platform with a male rider being cut out at height. The park declined to comment at the time the report was written on the edp website. I heard loads of sirens so I guess that's what it was.

I went up at 6.04pm and all staff and public had gone home. Park was locked up. A guy was complaining of a bad back so guess he was removed  after the ride had done it's circuit judging by the picture posted by Suffolk fire and rescue

Seems the rain made the saftey sensors kick in which stopped the train after the first circuit. The ride was lowered down to a safer level where all but the man claiming he had a bad back were released. The car the man was in was cut by firefighters to release him onto a stretcher. Not a good time just as main season is a week away. Suspect the ride will be out for a good few weeks unless they can get it going minus the cut car. Is the old train it came with still kicking about for a spare carriage?

The old cars were never kept by the park sadly.

If they've cut up one of the cars then I can imagine it's going to be closed for some time yet... Vekoma don't even make these trains anymore...

It's quite worrying really. The park is already lacking this year, for Wipeout to be closed for a lengthy amount of time is not good at all. I hope they can either operate it without that car in use, or they can get it sorted pretty quick.

What did they cut though, just the restraints? if that's the case then maybe it could be a relatively easy replacement.

It's operating now by the sounds of it!

It's been running most of the day, the seat was unbolted to remove him. Plus the deluge of rain activated the safety devices and the ride stopped. The guy rode with a existing injury and the park pointed out on BBC look east tonight that there are signs clearly stating do not ride with injuries

We are visiting the area in a few weeks, With hobs pit gone, is pleasurewood still worth visiting?
We had been thinking of taking the 7 day pass as its not much more than for the one day.

Looking for honest opinions is it worth it?

Depends if you've got young kids.. if you have then it's probably a visit, if not then maybe not worth it.
Hobs maybe gone but it's been replaced so you haven't really lost anything. Plus you get to enjoy long queues for the Cannonball and two dodgems lol i don't think it's worth getting a week pass, seems pointless, when you could have a day at Pleasure beach instead.

I honestly can't see how you could fill a week at PWH. You can easily do everything in a day (if not half) but I'd say it's still worth it for a day (as long as everything major that is left is running). Wipeout is alright for what it is, Fireball is pretty good and Jolly roger is great. Even with rattlesnake gone, there is still a fair bit for younger people to do. The shows are definitely worth a look as well. Depending on how long you have, you could probably get PWH and GYPB in a day pretty easily.

If i'm spending £17 for a PHW ticket i'm making sure i get a full day out of it.. even if it means sitting on the grass enjoying the atmosphere watching. I'm not one of theses people that like things to be finished before they've begun.

Sadly there aren't enough rides, or variation anymore.

Think you need to go to some other theme parks Bubbles, £17 is incredibly cheap.

Flamingoland and Drayton Manor are both around the £40 Mark, whilst they do offer a lot more than PWH, it shows that £17 for PWH is more than fair.

Lightwater Valley, which is very similar to PWH, is £30.
