So it appears a once familiar face at Pleasurewood Hills, Ben Rowe will now be the Operations Manager at Dreamland Margate :) Good luck with the new job Ben!
Hi guy's, I thought I would throw this out there, rather than just simply adding it. - but if you are interested, I could keep you up to date with everything going on at Dreamland, the home of the first roller coaster in the UK? Only if you promise to visit? ;)
I certainly intend on visiting Ben, but I'd like to visit when there's more of a 'park' to visit, rather than just a couple of rides.
I remember reading (a while back now) that the Scenic would open this year, with more rides opening in 2016. Is this still the case Ben?
I also remember reading that they would only have 'heritage' rides, but I've learnt that they've purchased a Big Apple coaster and a standard ferris wheel. Now that's hardly heritage, but I completely understand that they will need a decent number of rides to make the park sustainable, and it's unlikely that they would be able to fill the park with just heritage rides at the moment.
Is King Solomons Mine still going to be added to the park?
Now that's the type of intelligent talk I'm interested in Martyn!
The whole set of attractions and rides will be launched on Friday through the new re-launched website, when tickets go on sale. Unfortunately I can't say anything more about what we've got until then, but after perhaps we can talk about who's been involved and where they've come from.
When we open there shall be (Dam! I can't say until Friday) - But there shall be probably more than you're expecting and properly themed as expected.
The purchased rides are replacing what 'once was' and replacement rides are being re-themed to be in keeping with the 'ole so new. yet so old-fashioned theme'. Don't get me wrong, we are not talking about a new Alton Towers here, what we are talking about; is creating is a new destination that includes an amusement park that includes plenty of well maintained, brilliantly themed (in keeping with the heritage and core brand of the venue) rides.
Think Dreamland as a venue, rather than a theme park per se. There's some really exciting stuff happening. - and that's not just marketing talk - promise!
BTW - Everyone does know that The Scenic Railway (Grade 2 Listed) has been completed rebuilt (over 3/4 mile) with most of the original track up-cycled on park?
Tickets now on sale with all the news on rides/attractions etc on the all new website! Tickets were launched today with the first 500 people receiving a piece of Scenic Railway Salvage. We had a queue down the street from 5:45am! Crazy day! Such a great vibe too.

On the first day there will also be a night party (The Opening Night Hullabaloo) from 19-00 to 22-00 tickets are £24-95 with other parts going on till 1am, see web site for line-up.
why does this have its own section and not just put in uk theme parks section etc ?
A few reasons really; In the run up to the launch, there is likely to be plenty to talk about, and lots of news to share. Two familiar faces are involved, so it links back to Pleasurewood Hills nicely. Also, Ben is a regular contributor on here meaning we are fortunate enough to be receiving first hand information. Well worth promoting, in my opinion.
It will eventually be merged back into the main sections.
Huge turnout for today's first of 2 initial Recruitment days. We have seen at least 1100 candidates today (with so many amazing stories to tell). We're are expecting even more tomorrow.
Dreamland, Margate are working with renowned recruitment and training specialist's BOO! Productions on this - The initial drive was very much like PWH but the next group stages will be something very different.
We must have seen over 3500 candidates these past two days, I've worked out I managed to interview 300+ canddates over 14 hours, across two days! Phew!
My favourite interview was on Thursday. This girl sat down, with a big smile and strong Italian accent. Within 20 seconds she mentioned she had recently completed a period at Disney EPCOT, as part of their cultural representative programme and showed me her Disney references.
Right there, I stopped the interview thanked her for her time and fast tracked her through to the next stages. Baffled, she asked me why; I said if you're good enough for Disney, you're good enough for me!
As is customary when Recruitment and I come into contact - We make a song and dance out of it! Had some great people and awesome characters in attendance!
